In order to use the Chromecast function on the STV Player app you need to have a Google Chromecast device connected to your TV. This allows you to be able to send what is playing within the app on the mobile device to a much larger screen and the mobile device can be used to control the content much like if you were using a remote control. In this setup the Chromecast device is the receiver which captures what is being sent from the app. The Chromecast icon at the top of the app screen is what initiates a connection between the two devices and sends information to the TV.

To Cast from the app

1. If you haven't used Chromecast for the STV Player app on your device before you will get a notification telling you that Chromecast has arrived. Tap on the icon to dismiss this message.
2. Once you select an episode or go to a Live channel you will have the option to cast by selecting the cast icon which is located at the top of the screen next to the search spyglass.
3. A modal will appear asking you which device you would like to cast to. There will be a device name for each Chromecast device you own in this list. Click the name of the device you wish to cast to.
4. If you look at the TV with the Chromecast attached you will see that there is a message saying 'Ready to Cast'. The Chromecast icon at the top of the screen will be filled with white which means anything you click to play or pause etc will happen on the TV.
5. To stop playing content on the TV and go back to watching content on the phone, press the Chromecast icon again which will bring up a thumbnail image of what is being played. There will be a 'Stop Casting' option written in orange text. Press that and the content will be removed from the TV screen. The Chromecast icon on the phone will no longer be filled in white which means you are in regular app mode on the mobile device and are no longer casting.
